Description

The Choptima got smaller.

The 2nd Generation O2ptima CM is over six inches (15 cm) shorter from top to bottom than the original. That makes it a chest-mount CCR that fits divers of all shapes and sizes, and it works anywhere from a single-tank liveaboard trip to a full expedition.

Dive Rite also rebuilt the breathing loop. They took feedback from instructors and CM divers and redesigned the gas path to cut work of breathing. Lab testing puts it at nearly 1 joule. Even with all that, the loop volume is still 6.5 liters, so it breathes the way a Choptima should.

What’s new

• Over six inches shorter from top to bottom
• 3D counterlungs that reduce gas turbulence and sit lower on your chest
• 35-degree fittings in place of 90-degree elbows, for a more direct gas path
• Wider-bore loop hoses with more corrugation, for better flexibility and less restriction
• Work of breathing at nearly 1 joule in lab testing

Accessories

Most divers won’t need a scooter ring because the unit is so much shorter, but one is available as an option. The skid plate is now optional too. We recommend it if you dive in tight spaces.

A word on the white one

Yes, you can order it in white. Dive Rite takes no responsibility for stains, and neither do we.

Training

The O2ptima CM requires CCR certification on the unit. Not certified yet? Ask us about training.
