Some notes on flying with your Logic Dive Gear Genesis 3.1 DPV

Preparing the scooter for air travel

Follow the procedure in the owner’s manual to prepare the batteries for air shipment by disconnecting the layers electrically. When Security x-rays the scooter, they will see what looks like a torpedo. This is why we include the attached brochures and note that explain to the baggage inspectors what it is and to call you if they want to look inside, so they do not damage it. Also include the guidelines from the US DOT or the IATA.

1. Remove the four screws that secure the handle mounting bracket to the scooter. The screws for the left side of the handle mount with the tow cord attachment plate are slightly longer than the screws on the right side of the handle mount. When reassembling, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT LENGTH SCREWS FOR THE LOCATION THEY ARE INSTALLED! No SS plate = 7/8”, 1 SS plate 1”, 2 SS plates 1-1/8”

2. Remove propeller and carefully feed the handle into the propeller area as shown, then reinsert propeller. It is a good idea to place a towel or T-shirt between the handle and propeller for padding. Alternately, the handle can by folded forward and wrapped with padding.

3. Slide rubber band over the lock strips, so airport inspector is not tempted to pull on them. 4. Charger is best placed in a different bag to reduce weight.

5. Place scooter into bag, tail first, lift up on the tail slightly while pressing down on the nose until seated. It is a very tight fit.

6. Place dive gear around the scooter for padding. Boots, dry/wetsuit, BC, etc.

7. Place the brochure with note (see example below) on top so that it is the first thing the baggage inspector sees WHEN they open your bag and then zip the bag closed.

Example note to baggage inspector

Dear Airport Inspector,

That large black thing you just saw on your X-Ray is an under water thruster for SCUBA diving. The batteries installed in the device are less than 95Wh, have passed UN38.3 testing and are electrically disconnected to prevent operation with the terminals protected against short circuit. A brochure is attached for reference.

The housing can be severely damaged if opened or closed improperly. If you would like to inspect inside, please call my cell phone below in the USA or have me paged inside the airport and I will open and close it for you.

Have a nice day,
